Lt. Governor Skillman breaks
ground for new manufacturing facility in Montgomery County
CRAWFORDSVILLE (April 13, 2006)—Lieutenant Governor
Becky Skillman today joined officials from DuBose Manufacturing,
a leading producer of steel strapping, to break ground on
a new manufacturing facility near Crawfordsville, a development
that has the potential to create approximately 60 new jobs
in the next two years.
“We’re being very aggressive in creating a climate
in Indiana to attract business, such as DuBose, in all corners
of the state and in all communities,” said Lt. Governor
Skillman. “The jobs this company is bringing to Indiana
offer solid opportunities to dozens of families. I am glad
that today we are not only welcoming DuBose as guests from
out of state but as Hoosiers putting down roots.”
The state of Indiana, through the Indiana Economic Development
Corporation, and Montgomery County Economic Development worked
together to provide an incentive package that helped lure
the DuBose manufacturing operation to Indiana. Nucor Steel,
a supplier to DuBose, has a presence in the immediate area,
which also was a factor in the company’s decision to
locate in Montgomery County.
The company plans to build an 84,000 sq. ft. facility on
a 115-acre parcel in the Nucor Road Industrial Corridor and
will employ 30 people when the facility is completed in late
2006. The company plans to add an additional 30 employees
within the following year.
The IEDC-offered incentives include up to $74,000 in training
grants, $75,000 in infrastructure assistance to the local
community, and up to $1.19 million in tax credits based on
anticipated employment and capital investment levels.
Montgomery County's incentive offer consists of local real
and personal property tax abatement valued at $484,000 over
a period of 10 years.
DuBose Strapping is a manufacturer of steel strapping. The
strapping is used primarily for industrial packaging applications
such as the lumber industry. The DuBose family has been involved
in this industry for over 35 years.
